Madelen Isa Lindgren
b . 1990, Fredrikstad (NO)
Madelen Isa Lindgren is an artist whose practice engages with cycles and mutations in the natural world, reimagined through the lens of archaeological traces and futuristic speculation. Shaped by an early familiarity with seasonal rhythms along the Norwegian coast, her work considers processes of growth, decay, and renewal across both ecological and cultural timescales.
Her sculptural work unfolds as an almanac, a three-dimensional register of organic and cosmic processes, forming an archive of living systems. Patterns and transformations are interwoven with myths and symbols, forming the basis of her material language. She approaches sculpture as a protective and caring technology, often expressed through cocoons, shields, and tentacles—hybrid bodies that preserve and carry knowledge across time.
Lindgren holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medium- and Material-Based Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2015–2018), which included one year of exchange studies at Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee (2017). She also completed a Practical Pedagogical Education in Art and Design at OsloMet (2019–2020), and earned her Master’s degree in Fine Art from the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design in Bergen (2022–2024).
Her work has been exhibited at both national and international venues, including Norwegian Sculptors Society, Podium, Kunsthall Oslo, Bergen Kunsthall, Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall in Arendal in Norway, Wehrmuehle Museum andMuseum Fluxus in Berlin, Kastela Art Centre in Athens and Galleria di Piazza San Marco, Venice.
Lindgren is part of the international art platform MOLT, where she works across curatorial and artistic practice.
